Characteristics of Success In Home Business 5: Persistence

Persistence.

Boy oh boy, persistence.

“With persistence and perseverance you can piss a hole in a rock.” – unknown.

There is a heap o’ truth in that statement.  Though it may seem unlikely that someone could burrow into rock with their waterworks, erosion teaches us that it is plausible.

Becoming an entrepreneur can be similar.  Without persistence, the pitfalls and landmines of home business ownership are debilitating.  However, persistence (especially when coupled with positive focus) is the key to reaching goals.

The legendary Napoleon Hill said this:

“Persistence is an essential factor in the procedure of transmuting desire into its monetary equivalent.  The basis of persistence is the power of will.”

Uh-oh, you mean I need willpower too?  I’m afraid so.

There is another passage from Hill that helps me refocus on my goals:  ”Every failure brings with it the seed of an equivalent advantage.”  Too true.  This always spurs me to think of other people in my industry.  If I am ‘failing’ at something and I am really starting to let it get me down then I think about Napoleon Hill and I ask myself:

“Is there anybody in this industry that is doing what I am doing and seeing spectacular results?” , usually the answer is yes so I move on, “How can I learn how to do what they are doing and duplicate their results?”.

Then I persist.  I learn and I apply.  Then I take not of the feedback I get from my actions and I make necessary corrections.  Rinse and repeat.  Also,  Never. Give. Up.
